Brief Introduction to Liujia Sa Altar Liujia Sa Altar is the first sacrificial altar to Sa Sui in the whole Dong ethnic region.The altar is a small wooden temple with a hip-and-gable roofed foyer. During the 8th to the 10th day of every first lunar month, people from more than twenty neighboring villages gather together here to hold a sacrificial and memorial ceremony for Sa Sui.Solemn ceremonies and grand occasions like this are rare in the Dong region.

Five-Dragons Temple Five-dragon Temple is a hip-and-gable wooden building, in which local people offer sacrifice to the god Yangong.It is a holy place where Dong, Miao, Zhuang, Yao, Shui and Han people from Guizhou, Hunan and Guangxi provinces come to pray for peace and protection. It has seen many worshipers over the ages. According to legend, the temple was first built in the 15th year of Emperor Guangxu of Qing Dynasty (1889). It was named “Five-Dragon Temple” because the five surrounding ridges look like five dragons flocking here from five different directions.

Lower Jitang Drum Tower Lower Jitang Drum Tower is a pagoda style multi-eaves drum tower with a pyramid roof. It is 11 stories and 24 meters high, and covers an area of 130 square meters. It was built as early as 1813,and has been rebuilt several times since then. The tower was destroyed in 1966 during the “Culture Revolution”, but was restored by local villagers in 1978. Since 1982, the tower has been listed as an important cultural relic with provincial protection.

Brief Introduction to Jitang Drum Tower Jitang Drum Tower is a pagoda style multi-eaves drum tower with a pyramid roof, 9 stories and 20 meters high, and covers an area of 110 square meters. It was built as early as 1538,and has been rebuilt many times since then.The tower was destroyed by fire in 1957 and rebuilt in 1963.Soon afterwards, in 1966, it was destroyed during the “Culture Revolution”.Local villagers restored it again in 1978, and since 1982 the tower has been listed as an important cultural relic with provincial protection.

Liuyue Wind-and-Rain Bridge The roofed bridge spanning the Liuyue River is a cantilever beam bridge with double openings.It is 32 metes long, 2.4 meter wide, and was first built in the third year of Emperor Tongzhi of Qing Dynasty (1864). The bridge roof is in two styles, the central part is an overhung gable-ended double eaves roof, and the western end is a three storied hip-and-gable eaves roof.There are two long benches and two railings running the length of the bridge.From a distance, the bridge looks just like the Liujia Sa Altar. This is the only bridge which was built for the worship of the Goddess Sa Sui.

Sino-Japanese Friendship Drum Tower In 1998 the Japanese broadcasting company Temjin Inc. built this drum tower at Dengcen Dong Village for filming a documentary “Giant Chinese Fir and Towering Wooden Buildings” about Dong people, drum towers and forests of Chinese fir.The pagoda style multi-eaves drum tower has a pyramid roof, and stands 21 stories and 36 meters high. The lower two stories are square, and the upper 19 stores are octagon. A big cow hide drum, traditionally used for sending out messages, was installed in the top floor.
