The bridge is 118 m wide, with a 138 m arch that is 36.6 m high with a 40 m thick layer of rock on the top. The bridge is covered with luxuriant vegetation that stays green throughout the four seasons of the year. In the area around the bridge, there are more than 40 species of trees and many varieties of shrubs, herbs and lianas. It is 70 meters long and about 1 meter wide. The frame is formed with scores of logs, and the surface is laid with hundreds of four-meter-long planks.The original wooden bridge was demolished by Kuomintang forces before the Red Army marched through the village in December 1934.Braving the winter wind, and under the light of fire torches, the villagers carried logs and planks from their own houses to rebuild the bridge that same night, so that the troops could cross over the river smoothly the next morning.In order to commemorate the Red Army, the people now call the bridge ¡°Red Army Bridge¡±, and its original features are maintained.

¸Ã¼Ü³ÉÓÚËδú£¬ÓнüǧÄêÀúÊ·£¬Ê«³Æ¡°Ç§ÄêÆæľðµð˼ܡ±¡£The Cormorant ShelfThe Cormorant Shelf is located on a vegetation-covered cliff by the Bazhou River and near the village of Lower Wuya, 1.5 km northeast of Gaotun town.The shelf is formed with meter long logs and planks that lie across the entrance of a cave half way up the cliff. Fish and shrimp live deep in the pool in front of the cave. Occasionally, wild cormorants can be seen standing on the shelf after hunting for food, hence the name ¡°cormorant shelf¡±.According to the local annals, the shelf was formed during the Song dynasty (A.D.960-1279). A poem was written that refers to the ¡°incredible wooden cormorant shelf¡±.

According to the legends, since the forefathers settled here, a flourishing population emerged, soon increasing to 1300 households. Over time 700 of the households moved to Maogong, 200 to Ladong, 100 to Luoda, and the others remained at Dimen as the root of the 1300 households. In order to commemorate the village as the place of origin, Dong people named it Dimen. Nowadays, people of Dimen live in 5 tribes.These tribes are respectively called Zaiyin, Demian, Lamo, Zaimu and Lawei. There were 4 drum towers and 3 roofed bridges at Dimen.The drum tower of the Lamo tribe is regarded as the root of all 1300 households.

Brief Introduction to the Tanggong (God of the Pool)TempleLong long ago, a Dong young man from Dimen was elected to be a senior official in the capital city for both his extraordinary ability and integrity. Some years later, homesickness made him quit his job and left for his home town. Unfortunately he died by accident on the way! Finally, his soul flew to his home village and melted into the clear spring water and amassed as a pool blessing to all the villagers, and irrigating all the fields. Now the villagers feel grateful to him, and respectfully call him Tanggong (the God of the Pool). Every year, on the 11th day of the first lunar month, a grand memorial ceremony is held here for him to express the people¡¯s worship.

Wu Wencai¡¯s LifeWu Wencai £¨1798¡ª1845£©was born at Ladong Dong village of Maogong town to an ethnic Dong peasant family.He is the originator of Dong ethnic Opera.During his childhood, he displayed great cleverness and was eager to learn. After his studies at an old-style private school, he had a great knowledge of Chinese characters, and was called a ¡°folk scholar¡±.When he was 12 years old, he was invited to attend the local elders¡¯ parliament as a young member. It¡¯s said that Wencai had the gift of gab and was especially good at singing and creating songs. When he was 20 years old, he had become a master at song writing and was honored as the ¡°King of Song¡±. When Wencai was 30 years old, he withdrew from the elders¡¯ parliament to focus single mindedly on studying and writing opera. First he translated the two Chinese dramas ¡°Xugang Resists the Tang Government¡± and ¡°Double Plum Blossom¡± into Dong language and adapted them as Dong dramas ¡°Lidan and Fengjiao¡± and ¡°Mei Liangyu¡±. After writing the dramas, he designed the vocal music and actions and taught young girls and boys to perform it.From its first performance the ethnic opera was warmly welcomed.From that time on Dong people continued to have their own ethnic opera, and ethnic dramas spread throughout the whole southern Dong dialect area.

Brief Introduction to Grain StorehousesDong people used to cultivate glutinous rice and usually built wooden storehouses on the outskirts of their village, sometimes above water. Brief Introduction to the Gaojin Historic Theatre StageThe Gaojin Historic Stage is located in the middle of Gaojin Dong village, Maogong town. It was first built during the years of Qianlong Emperor (1736-1796) of the Qing Dynasty, having a history of more than 200 years. It was formed with 3 main parts: the performance platform, the side building, and the audience ground. The main stage is the place where the ethnic drama is performed. The two buildings on the side of the stage and the pebble paved audience ground in front of the stage is the place where the audience watched performance. Since June, 2006 it has been classified in the provincial list of major historical and cultural sites for protection.

ΪÁËÈúóÈ˼ÇסÕâ¶ÎÀúÊ·Ó붱¼ÒÈ˵ÄÔâÓö£¬µ±µØÈËÿÄê¼á³ÖÓÃʯ»Ò½¬½«ÑÒÉϵĴó×ÖÌî°×£¬Ê¹ÆäÇåÎú¿É±ç¡£Brief Introduction to the Stone InscriptionTwo large Chinese characters ¡°Guo Hua¡± have been strikingly engraved on the cliff rock face of a hill in the fields opposite to Pilin village. The two characters mean ¡°enlightenment by passing by¡±.Each character is two meters high and wide, and clearly visible from 1 km away. Two lines of small characters ¡°Written by Deng Zilong in the 15th year of the Emperor Wanli¡± (1583) were also written boldly at the right side of the big characters.The writer Deng Zilong was a general of Ming Dynasty who once led his army put down Dong people¡¯s uprising initiated by the ethnic hero Wu Mian.In order to preserve this history and the fate of Dong Minority the local people whiten the characters with white lime every year to keep it visible.
